Varicose Veins
With state-of-the-art equipment,
under skilled, knowledgeable staff, the Vein Center of Northeast
Ohio can diagnose and treat a wide variety of venous and skin
disorders.
Varicose Veins
The most important part in the treatment of varicose veins is to make
sure that the origin of the reflux is properly discovered and remedied. If the
vein causing the reflux is not properly treated, the chances of the
varicose veins recurring
becomes high. Using duplex ultrasound and Doppler scanning,
we are able to accurately diagnose the common causes and sites of
venous reflux.
Previous treatments for most varicose veins involved
stripping the varicose veins, requiring hospitalization, extensive
surgery, and prolonged immobilization. This was not only prohibitive
in terms of cost, but resulted in a painful post-operative period.
The superficial vein, which is
mostly a non-vital vein, is normally the vein used for bypass
surgery for the heart as well as for other vascular diseases. It
should be preserved whenever possible.
Spider Veins
Telangiectasia, more commonly referred to as Spider Veins, are
small veins that lie close to the surface of the skin, appearing in
lines, sunburst patterns, or clusters. These unsightly veins are
connected to the slightly larger reticular veins, but serve no real purpose.
Although spider veins will occasionally cause irritation, they are
normally not symptomatic and pose little threat to a person's health.
Blood Clots
While superficial thrombophlebitis, or a painful blood clot in a
superficial veins, is more commonly associated with varicose veins, it can
also occur in otherwise normal veins. Careful examination and
diagnosis is necessary to rule out a major venous reflux, and also
to rule a Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) associated with the above
condition. the deep vein thrombosis is a life-threatening disorder
which might result in pulmonary embolism. However, superficial
phlebitis is usually a more benign
situation that doesn't require the use of anticoagulation or
hospitalization.
The Vein Center of Northeast Ohio, Ltd. has an experienced and
knowledgeable staff who, with the use of duplex ultrasound scanning,
can diagnose and treat the clot at different levels.
Leg Swelling and Lymphedema
Swelling of the legs is one of the most common and mysterious conditions in medicine today. There are a myriad of
causes for this problem, ranging from musculoskeletal strain to
circulatory disorders such as varicose veins and deep vein
thrombosis. Through thorough examination and non-invasive testing,
the Vein Center of Northeast Ohio can diagnose and treat most of the
known causes of leg swelling.
Venous Insufficiency
Chronic Venous Insufficiency is one of the oldest ailments known
to mankind. Recent discoveries in medicine have shown that in a
sizable percentage of all cases of Chronic Venous Insufficiency,
there is a major contribution to the condition from superficial veins,
which are most often varicose. This newfound knowledge about
this condition means that in at least one-third of patients, the
Vein Center of Northeast Ohio, Ltd. can treat these veins,
bringing significant improvement in chronic venous insufficiency. Patients whose
condition is due primarily to incompetence of the perforating veins
can also be treated by other semi-invasive means consisting of foam
sclerotherapy and radio frequency ablation of such veins.
Common Skin Problems
The Vein Center of Northeast Ohio, Ltd. also has plans to provide
aesthetic procedures using intense pulsed laser for the treatment of
skin blemishes, wrinkled skin, and sun-damaged skin. Treatment of
rosacea, spider veins, excessive blushing, angiomas, port wine types
of venous malformations, unwanted body hair, age spots, and red
moles will also be able to be treated in the near future. |
